The Address Dubai Mall
Checking in at The Address Hotel
Completed in 2008, The Address Hotel at The Dubai Mall brings a hospitality element to the entire development. The addition presents TDM not just as the world’s largest retail mall but also as an all-encompassing, world-class tourist destination. Standing at an impressive 63-storey tall, the five-star luxury hotel with its curved form also brings further prominence to TDM. Exuding sophistication and metropolitan vibes, its architectural expression is reflective of Dubai’s contemporary stride. At the same time, the façade design adopts a similar shade of sandy hue found on the overall façade of TDM. This effectively allows the hotel identity to fall in line with the larger Dubai Mall development.
Native form, modern functions
Here, our façade team collaborated closely with the architectural team to boost the exterior form with functionality. While the façade design hints at a return to vernacular frontage typical of Middle Eastern architecture, the materials used take a modern twist. The curtain wall comprises high-performance glass delicately balancing visible light transmission and shading coefficient in order to optimise the thermal performance of the façade. The curtain wall frames are thermally-broken so as to further reduce the heat load on the building. The glazed panels are set deep within sand-coloured GFRC panels, which is reminiscent of the traditional Middle Eastern architectural style.
